Brian shares insights into why Mānuka Health decided to take this evolutionary step. He explained that as stewards of the honeybee and mānuka tree, Mānuka Health is dedicated to uncovering the full potential of these incredible natural gifts.
Why has Mānuka Health taken this evolutionary step?
At Mānuka Health, we think of ourselves as the guardians of the honeybee and mānuka tree, and the incredible gifts they create. This is why we pour a huge amount of research and effort into uncovering as much of the mystery surrounding these gifts as possible. Because of this, we’re constantly learning more about the remarkable properties of not only mānuka honey, but also the bees’ other precious substances; propolis and royal jelly.
Our research highlighted the opportunity to create the first system in the world to harness the power of all three of these gifts. So that’s what we’ve done. With this new system, we’re now sharing the full spectrum of benefits of mānuka honey, propolis and royal jelly, with people all over the world.
How does the system itself work?
We like to call it a ‘holistic and harmonious system’, because that’s truly what it is. It includes three unique collections of skincare and ingestibles, each defined by one of the honeybee’s gifts.
LIFE is our collection of pure and premium high-MGO mānuka honey. IMMUNITY is infused with protective propolis. And finally, IMMORTALITY features the amazing regenerative powers of royal jelly.
The collections and their products are designed to be experienced either individually, or together as a whole system for inner and outer wellness.
The new Mānuka Health has also seen the introduction of a new-look jar. Can you tell us about the thinking behind its design?
As with everything we do, we’ve put a huge amount of thought into the design of our new packaging. Not only how it looks and feels, but how it functions and its impact on the planet.
It was designed in partnership with industrial designer Lance McGregor, of McGregor & McGregor. What the team has achieved is really astonishing. It’s more like a work of art than a jar, a modern reimagining of the traditional honeycomb hexagon.
But it’s not only great to look at. It also features state-of-the-art anti-counterfeit measures that make each jar incredibly hard to replicate. This means anyone who purchases honey with Mānuka Health can be totally assured of the authenticity of the product.
Sustainability was also an important factor in the jar’s design. The materials selected mean we’re now the only mānuka honey brand in the world whose packaging can be seamlessly recycled together – from the jar, to lid, to the label.
Why has Mānuka Health chosen to focus on only higher-MGO mānuka honey?
Recent research out of Dresden University has indicated that the greatest benefits of mānuka honey start with the higher MGOs. These high-MGO mānuka honeys feature higher levels of polyphenols, which are responsible for enhancing our everyday wellbeing.
So, as part of our dedication to bringing our customers the very best of nature’s gifts, we’ve chosen to make these high-MGO honeys the cornerstone of our new collections. Our mānuka honey range starts at MGO 400, then moves up to MGO 600, before reaching the pinnacle of potency at MGO 800.
Can you explain how the new system simplifies MGO for customers?
Yes, this was a big priority for us. As a customer, choosing the mānuka honey with the right amount of potency to meet your needs can be confusing. We wanted to simplify the process, which is why we’ve created three clear MGO levels.
Daily MGO 400 is our mānuka honey designed for everyday wellbeing. The next level up is Extra MGO 600, which is replete with even more revitalizing minerals, vitamins and enzymes. Lastly, there’s Ultra MGO 800. This is our highest level of MGO, with remarkable properties for targeted care.
Within each level, we explain how often to consume the product to achieve its full spectrum of benefits. This makes choosing the right mānuka honey simpler and easier than ever.
